Here are a few guidelines we would like to ask everyone at playgroup to follow...

OPENING

  • We use a lock box to keep the key for playgroup in. The code will be given to you when you become a member. If you have never used a lock box before, have one of the other members show you how.
  • Please don't give the keycode out to anyone who is not a member. The only person other than yourself and partner that can have it is a permanent caregiver, and you will be 100% responsible for their actions. We ask that if your caregiver has children of their own and wishes to use the playgroup themselves that they also become members.
PLAYING
  • Use anything in the playgroup unless it is specially labeled. Art supplies, coffee, tea, water, toilet paper and first aid supplies are all there for your use as a member. Please let Jojo know if any supplies are getting low.
PAINTING, ARTWORK
  • Your 10 dollars a month includes art supplies and we encourage you to use them. Keep them well-organized and the cups and brushes clean. Smocks and Oversize T-Shirts are there for your use. If a shirt becomes uncomfortable because it is totally encrusted in paint, it should be put in the laundry bag.
  • ALWAYS put the child's name on the painting or drawing. Unlabelled artworks will eventually be recycled.
  • Look in your children's cubbies for art works that are ready to bring home. You may also find messages in there from other parents.
PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
  • Please see the bulletin board in the playgroup for a list of programs currently offered.
  • If you have an idea for a program, would like to organize a field trip or have questions about any of this, please contact Monica at 8318
  • Any new information on programs will be put up on the bulletin board by the door. Please check it periodically so that you are up to date on new events.
EATING
  • Please eat at the tables. Clean up afterwards.
  • Wipe surfaces down well for the next eater.
  • If you bring milk for all to use in their coffee, tea, you can leave the rest for others to use but by the same token please be prepared to tip it out 2 weeks later when it has gone off.
  • Playgroup strives to be a nut-free zone. We ask that you not knowingly bring nuts or nut-containing foods onto the premises. Please also wash hands before coming to playgroup, especially if you've been eating nuts or nut-butters.
  • Please do not leave lunch and snack boxes completely unattended. There are new eaters roaming around who could feasibly choke on grapes, popcorn among other foods.
  • By the same token, we as parents need to be vigilant of our children and should not rely on everyone else to provide a totally safe environment for our children.
LAUNDRY
  • There is a laundry bag hanging on the inside of the bathroom door labeled "Honey, clean up your act". It's for dirty dishcloths, painting smocks, etc...
  • Clean tea towels and dish clothes can be found in the cupboard above the toilet.
CLEANING UP
  • Please use the vacuum after every visit and sweep the eating area.
  • Part of doing dishes includes cleaning the sink afterwards.
  • The composter is next to the library. Rinse out the bucket afterwards.
  • It should not always be left to the last person to be at playgroup to clean up. If you are leaving before everyone else, please pitch in before you leave.
  • Use the paper recycling box.
  • Take your garbage home
  • Currently, the playgroup members are keeping up well with cleaning. In the past though, cleaning has been a problem, resulting in a messy playgroup and people feeling either pestered or petty. We don't want it to get that way again so we ask that you sign up for one month on our cleaning schedule. Tidy, recycle, sort, wash, scrub, polish, steamclean; do whatever type of cleaning you are good at for 3-6 hours that month.
LOCKING UP
  • Before leaving, be sure to turn off the lights, make sure the back door is locked and close all the windows. In the winter we keep the thermostat at 12 degrees when we leave for the day. There is a list of locking up duties by the door to remind you.
  • The back door is occasionally used for rushing out to the car or shaking out rugs. Please be sure that the back door is locked before leaving.
  • Please remember to LOCK the door before putting the key away in the lock box.
STAYING HOME
  • If you or your kids show signs of being sick, please stay home.
  • If you or your kids come down with something contagious (lice, chicken pox, etc…) and they have been in the playgroup in the last 10 days, please let a board member know so we can notify others.
PARTIES
  • Non-members pay a $20.00 fee for the rental of the playgroup. As a member, for you this is free. Birthday parties can be held on Saturdays or Sundays. Phone Jojo to book a particular date.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES AS A MEMBER
  • Help us keep our costs low by following the guidelines above.
  • We rely on active membership to keep the Playgroup a vibrant and friendly utility for all. If you have ideas, let us know, and use your individual talents to improve the smooth operation and appearance of the place.
  • Membership costs 10 dollars a month. Please keep it simple for the treasurer by providing her with a cheque for the entire year, or post-dated cheques covering the entire year broken down however you prefer (eg: 60 dollars now, 60 dollars 6 months from now). Please leave your dues in the cash box by the door.
